I didn’t like myself growing up — my face, my hair, my body, my heart — so when I started attracting the attention of boys I would abandon myself for their attention. Anything to fill the hole of the love and affection that lacked in my childhood. Searching for validation in external things, moving from one relationship to the next to distract me from the hurt without taking time to heal and understand what I need to feel secure, worthy, enough for myself, first.
